*ahem* so umm im gunan present one of my earliest fantasy photomanips i did wayy back comments and crits are welcomed

lol! yea that is two words...*patpat* its ok, i cant count either xD mayb i over did the shinyness? ^^;; ah well too late to fix that now -_-

was there any water coloring effect at all?

and nope, no watercolor.. just lots of layers with different hue and opacity, to get the kind of colorfull-ish effect i got this is what you do:

1) have a bg open (preferrebly a landscape) and then duplicate it

2)after duplication, set a new layer on top of that and then go to the gradient tool in your photoshop (usually in the toolbar)

3)now choose a color and change the style of gradient, press the "radial" gradient style so that when you drag it on the layer it makes a circle of color that fades out at the edges

4)paint over your landscape using this gradient stlye (ie: if you want to make blue trees, blob the trees blue and so on...)

5)then after you feel like youre done "painting" your pic, go to filter->blur->guassian blur and put 5 for radius and 15 for threshold, then press ok

6)you should now have a bunch of big blobs of color all over the pic, then you go to layer->adjustments->blending options and change the opacity to around 20%-50% depending on how your bg is. jus play around with the sliding bar thingie until something looks rite xD

7)duplicate the layer again and play around with different blurs and opacity to get a better effect..

i'm not really good at explaining things but i hope this helped ^^;; if you want i can include pictures x.x

I like the effects and blending. Some of it is overdone a little too much though. It's lacking some depth too. Try using the burn and dodge tool. Also try working on your lighting.
Pretty good manipulation anyways =). Good job.

i admit i overdid the sparkles ^^:; i couldnt resist them. Good job on noticing the lighting, it was difficult to blend in the girl with the moon rays so i ended up giving up and made her a bit whiter. Oh and could you tell me specifically what lacks depth? i would like to know so my future attempt will be better, thank you =D

Well, I can't really see a focus point on the Large Piece. Everything is pretty much bland and kinds of mix in together. I know theres a focus point, but it's not standing out from the rest. Thats why it's lacking depth.

that piece of work shouldn't be messed with any further
it's good the way it is, the more you try, the more it'll be forced
leave it as it is, it' pretty much perfect

baka - hmm yep there is a focusing point but its reallyyy hard to see, if you look closely at teh girl's hand, there's abutterfly tehre, which explains the title...which leads to a story that you hafta figure out =D thank you for explaining ^_^ it was really helpful for me

sunchip - lol thank you, i wouldnt exactly call it "perfect" tho ^^;; it has a lot of flaws as this was my first photomanip..i have several other more recent ones for this year but i dont think anyone would wanna see em x.x
